X over Y (X/Y), refers to the format of editions in artistic prints, indicating the edition number of the specific work over the total number of editions produced. The ubiquitous nomenclature also describes the repetitive nature and systematic process of printmaking.

                        From the past to present, printmaking plays a significant role in art history and human civilization. Printmaking is a universal medium that can be found in different cultures, places and time periods. The wide array of printing making techniques, from the classical intaglio, to silkscreen printing, and even the digital printing method, demonstrates the widespread idea and development of printmaking throughout civilization. Art Projects Gallery proudly presents the exhibition “The Aesthetics of Replication” in collaboration with artists specializing in printmaking including Chung Tai Fu, Edi Sunaryo, Zhang Guang Yu, Chan Yi Ting, Lau Hong Lam , Cheung Tsz Ki and Yue Yuen Yu.

                        The exhibition will be held at Art Projects Gallery from 3 Apr – 14 May 2021.


                        X/Y, 在版畫藝術中是指版畫的版本格式，表示特定作品的版本號佔所製作版本總數的比例。 這慣用的命名法，描述了版畫的重複性質和系統的過程。

                        縱觀古今，版畫在人類發展及藝術史都起著重要作用。從以前在媒介傳播的功能性上以至工藝上均有深厚的歷史價值。作為一種各文明、各時代中都常見的媒介，版畫的媒介特性除促進信息的交流，在媒介技術上都因應時間和地域上有不同的演化。從數百年前的凹版印刷，至近現代的絲網印刷和數位印刷,都是促進了人類發展的重要證明，而當中的美學在於其觀賞性是獨特於眾多藝術媒介。

                        藝途畫廊將展出一系列的版畫藝術家作品，包括鍾大富，Edi Sunaryo, 張廣宇，陳伊婷，劉杭霖，張梓祈及余沅榆，透過版畫藝術展示藝術家各自所關注的命題。
